Hanging the Star wins Katatonia reworkings Competition

Was thrilled to find out last week that Katatonia picked the entry Alan and I did for this competition as their favourite! We really didn’t enter it thinking about winning… we just love to have a reason to work on new projects together. I’ve been a huge fan of Katatonia for many years and Alan knew I’d been dying to cover a track. I’ve always loved the melody of this song and the lyrics are very thought provoking too so it was a pleasant challenge to rework the song. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it as soon as I jammed it on the piano so I’m very happy that the band approves!

Of course, you can’t please everyone all the time and I’m sure some die hard Katatonia fans had a hard time hearing a reworking of a much loved older track. Well, I do what I do and Katatonia do what they do. Hopefully you’ll enjoy this reworking of Right Into The Bliss for what it is, a reinterpretation of a song with a beautiful melody and provoking lyrics…..Hanging the Star style.

Hanging The Star to support Blueneck in December!

I’m thrilled that Blueneck have asked me to support them in London on December 6th on their only UK date before the end of the year.

I’ll be playing with a smaller group this time around (Bush Hall was a bit epic wasn’t it!) and can’t wait to air a few new tunes and a couple of old ones which I’ve resurrected.

Blueneck have released a new track this week which is getting some great reviews. Check out their facebook page , download their new track Sirens from bandcamp and grab yourself tickets for London while you’re at it!

Hope to see you there, spread the word x
